This past Thursday morning Criminal Appeals Advocates attorney Lauren E. Allu was interviewed for a 2025 Town Hall discussing New York CPL 440 post-conviction motions. CPL 440 Motions allow prison inmates to raise arguments about how their rights were violated in a manner that could not be raised in the traditional appeal process.

The half-hour program included questions about strategies for CPL 440 motions, how they differ from other appeals, the impact of arguing "ineffective assistance of counsel," how court-appointed lawyers can differ from private attorneys, the emotional aspect of representation, and a variety of other topics related to New York criminal apeals. CAA's Texas attorney, Matt Daher, conducted the interview.

Please note that prior success does not guarantee future success, and all post-conviction work is difficult to win.
